Make it possible to read "pages" of your definitions similar to flipping through a dictionary!

We’d love to do that … we love the OED! We’ll have to figure out how frustrating it would be to users to link to something that costs ~$250/year to access, though.

Use GetSatisfaction instead of UserVoice
It's much more professional and easier to use

I'd like to be able to see MY favorited words.
I like that I can favorite words. I keep a list of words I like so I will use them and thereby increase my vocabulary. It would be nice if wordnik could replace this list for me.
Perhaps a link to "My Favorite Words".
Love the site. Found at TED.

Employ mascot powers. Cute pets give rise unto word love.
Cute sketches of familiar totems inspire trust, devotion, at least a smile. Recruit a good one.
3 votesAdminWordnik (Admin, Wordnik) respondedWe’re currently accepting mascot applications. Characters should have at least three years of mascot experience, preferably in the education or consumer-web field. Should be kid-friendly, but not juvenile. Please, no characters from products rated MA or above.

indicate logged in status on front page
i can't tell if i am logged in or not on the front page. it would be good to have the indication.
2 votesAdminWordnik (Admin, Wordnik) respondedThanks! If you’re logged in, the rightmost tab on the front page will say “Log Out” instead of “Log In”.

Add more information to profile pages
One thing I have noticed is that I don't get to put a lot of personal information under my name. I've been rather obsessed with pronouncing words, and I'd like for people to be able to see that my pronounciation is from a particular area (Australia, specifically). So I'd really like to see personal information fields added to the profile page of people so this information become available to people looking around the site.

images should be linked to senses not entries
When a lookup of a word occurs you display multiple definition senses and multiple images. Why not allow users to click on specific senses and then specific images to indicate which images go with which senses. An image is specific to a sense, not to a whole entry. Also, an image "suggests" a more detailed description of the word. E.g., I looked up "Ball" and one of the images was of a cat puffed up like a "ball of fur" --I would have liked to contribute to the further specification of why the images were related to various senses for…

We’re hoping to add a large list of rhyming words soon. In the meantime you can add your own rhyming words suggestions through the “Suggest a Related Word” option.

slanguage
curious about wordnik's potential relationship with slang. though "less scientific," urbandictionary.com is an incredible, if needlessly excessive and unmoderated tool for "expanding the paper" upon which we're compiling the language. any possibility of collaborating with them or a similar open-source slang/patois/regional-dialect aggregation service?
2 votesAdminWordnik (Admin, Wordnik) respondedWe are absolutely open to slang! Since we’re relying on written sources, evidence for certain slang terms can be rare — we’d love for people to add notes for words where we have no written evidence!
And we love Aaron at the Urban Dictionary, and would love to work with him. :-)

stats flashy but how useful
I try "cow" and am told it was unusual in 1800. I try "kine" (a plural of cow) and am told I can expect to see it about once a month. These "stats" strike me as wrong. The meanings of the bubbles are difficult to interpret. I love stats but need to know more about how they're generated, maybe alternate ways to generate.

Add a stronger suggestion engine for misspelled words.
When a user types a word that you don't recognise, you should present a them with some suggestions for similar words. You could base this on soundex, or you could drive it through the google engine.
2 votesAdminWordnik (Admin, Wordnik) respondedWe’re working on this … expect to see some spelling-suggestion improvement soon!
